The library system cannot function without donations. We accept gifts of money, materials such as books and DVDs, and time.

Monetary Donations:

You can donate by bringing cash or check to either library, by mailing a check to either library, or by making a safe and secure donation via PayPal. Donations can be made to either the Library Board of Directors (checks should be made out to the Plumb Memorial Library), which is a municipal department of the City of Shelton, or to the Friends of the Shelton Libraries, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting the library. Donations to either entity are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. We use monetary donations as you direct, and in general for: new materials, programming, technology, and services. Corporate sponsorships are also available.

Donations of Materials:

We are happy to accept new or gently used books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, etc. and they can be brought to Plumb Memorial Library during our hours of operation. Some items will be used to add to the library system’s collection, and others will be sold by the Friends of the Shelton Libraries to raise funds to purchase new materials for the libraries. Material donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law, and receipts will be provided upon request.

Donations of Time:

We use volunteers at both libraries for a great many tasks. We have volunteers of all ages and interests, and we accept both short-term and long-term commitments. Fill out the application listed below, and a member of the staff or the Friends will get back to you.
