Children's Summer Reading
This summer the Shelton Libraries invite visiting children to participate in our Shelton Libraries’ Summer Reading Program 2025, “Reading is Magic!” This special reading initiative is geared toward children ages 0-4 years old AND grades kindergarten through 6th grade. This summer, we will be using the web and mobile app. Beanstack to track our reading challenge. Caregivers are encouraged to make a family account through https://sheltonct.beanstack.org/reader365. At Plumb, we will have 2 computers specifically designated for using Beanstack.
Once your family makes their account, it’s time to begin reading and logging each family member’s read time plus begin earning and collecting colorful badges, fun rewards (which can be picked up in-person at either Shelton library) and prize tickets (many exciting items to choose from). In addition to all of this, children also have an opportunity to earn a prize ticket for a chance at our Grand Prize: a one year membership for 2 Adults and 4 Children to the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford, CT!
The Grand Prize is generously being funded by
the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club.
Teen Summer Reading
Teens entering grades 7-12 are invited to join this year’s Summer Reading Program. As always, we will be giving out weekly prizes as well as one grand prize of “Design You Own Sneakers” from VANS Shoes. Weekly prizes include physical items, such as Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures, as well as “experience” gift cards to places such as Rockin Jump, Cinemark Movies of Milford, Horseback Riding Lessons from Blue Spruce Farms, as well as Escapology Escape Rooms.We thank our sponsors who generously donated to this year’s Teen Summer Reading Program.
Tickets for prizes are only redeemed through the Beanstack App. Every hour (60 minutes) teens log their times into the app, teens can redeem one (1) virtual ticket. For example, if you read five (5) hours in one week and you log it into Beanstack, the app will award you with five (5) virtual tickets to be used whatever week you would like to submit for that prize. All registered teens are eligible for the grand prize, however teens can only win one (1) weekly prize. Download the app, register, and read read read. Summer Reading begins on Tuesday, June 10 and ends on Friday, August 8. Good luck and happy Summer Reading!
