The Cooking the Books adult book club is back! Running from September 2026 to May 2027, this book club will alternate food based presentations/activities and book discussions on titles that relate to food in some way. Book club members will also get to show off their culinary skills by making and sharing something they’ve made at the book discussion meetings! Meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of the month from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
By registering for this book club you are committing to 9 months of monthly meetings; 5 months will be activities/presentations, and 4 months will be book discussions with an associated food swap, on an alternating schedule. Book club members get priority registration for the 5 activity/presentation programs.

Yin Yoga is a newer form of yoga that combines ancient Taoist and Yogic philosophy. Poses will be held for 3-5 minutes paired with deep breathing, allowing the fascia tissue of the joints to get a nice stretch. Blocks and blankets will be available for support in positions when needed.
In a world where we are rushing through our busy days, yin yoga can remind us to sit through silence, and breathe through the discomforts we all face in life. Join instructor Shannon in this deeply healing and rejuvenating class!
Instructor Bio: Shannon has been practicing yoga for over five years. Since working at a yoga studio and wellness center in 2021, she knew she wanted to help others physically, mentally, and spiritually. Shannon is Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Sound Healing, and Reiki II certified. She is currently pursuing her Reiki Masters and Restorative Yoga certifications. Her future prospects include opening a wellness practice of her own. In her free time, Shannon enjoys reading, writing, painting, and being in nature as much as possible.

Preschoolers of ages 4, 5, 6 years old are welcome to join Miss Maura for this unique puzzle program. The library will provide the floor puzzles and Miss Maura will pair each child with another child aka a “Preschool Puzzle Pal” to work on a colorful floor puzzle together.
Children will be encouraged by Miss Maura to:
- Learn how to problem solve through their own strategies
- Use hand and eye coordination to try to figure out the provided puzzle with the help of their assigned Preschool Puzzle Pal.
- Use their words to practice their own communication skills
- Make friends with a new library pal by working together to solve a puzzle
Caregivers, you will be present in the Puzzle Room and the library will provide you with coffee and tea, and a seat plus an opportunity to visit with other Caregivers.
BUT Caregivers, you will not be helping your child. This pre-reading program is specifically geared for your preschool children to gain independent skills by learning through their own trial and error.

Each pair will:
- Play a family specific game
- Participate in family genealogy activities including writing letters to each other
- Enjoy a special breakfast treat
Invited Grandparents and/or Special Relatives are encouraged to bring a family keepsake or memento to share with their child. Each pair will also interview each other to learn new things about your family’s history, rituals and be encouraged to make memories.

Adult patrons are welcome to join us for a book club that focuses on the mystery genre; this book club will meet on the second Monday of ODD months from 5:00pm – 6:00pm. For each meeting, members read a book that falls within the theme for the month. At the meeting each member will have a turn to discuss their book and give the book a star rating out of five. A list of suggested titles will be provided for each theme upon registration, but patrons are encouraged to stop in and ask a librarian for help finding a title!

Please have your child prepare for our monthly book club by having your child read the book PRIOR to the meeting. Your child will be expected to add to our book discussion and participate in our book based games too. “Noshes” aka delicious snacks will be generously provided by FOTSL.
Caregivers MUST remain at Plumb Memorial Library while their child attends the program in it’s entirety.

Join Yoga Instructor, Miss Krista from Krista’s Kids Yoga for this yoga-themed library story-time. Young yogis and their caregivers will learn different yoga poses, enjoy a story plus music, and fun yoga props too! NO prior yoga experience needed. Caregivers will be participating in the yoga too. Please bring a yoga mat, a water bottle, and wear comfortable clothing.
