Shoutbomb Texting Service is Live!

Shoutbomb texting service has officially launched consortium-wide as of this week. Patrons can opt in to SMS notices using the “Default SMS” phone number field and associated notification preferences in their account. Text notices will now be delivered through Shoutbomb’s reliable and fully integrated platform. This means anyone who has previously opted into or from this point forward opts into text messages will be able to receive them no matter the phone carrier they have.
What is Shoutbomb?
Shoutbomb is the name of your library’s new text messaging service. Notifications for holds and items that are about to become due will be sent through this service.
How is it different from the previous text messaging service?
Text messages will be received more reliably. It also offers keywords such as MYBOOKS (to see what you have checked out), HOLDS (to see the status of holds), RENEW (to renew an item that is soon to be due), and HELP (for help with the text messaging service).
How do I opt in or out?
As before, this can be done by logging into your account in the online catalog, under Preferences > Notifications.
Important Note:
If an individual opted out of ShoutBomb messaging by using the prompt ‘STOP’ and have now decided they would like to receive SMS through this service, they can text the prompt ‘UNSTOP’ to the same number (844-506-7100) which will opt them back in.
Currently Supported SMS Notices:
- Hold Ready for Pickup – Sent hourly (receival can take up to 2 hours from time of hold marked ready for pickup)
- Pre-Overdue Notices (items due in less than 3 days) – Sent daily
- Test SMS (from the patron edit screen) – Sent instantly
- Send Call Number via SMS (from OPAC search results) – Sent instantly
